My Story

I hail from Kansas City, MO. Growing up, I spent most of my childhood in the Mid Missouri and Kansas City areas. I am a proud mother of three incredible children who inspire me every day. Interestingly enough, La Soirées was born out of my youngest child's inspiration. While I was pregnant with him, I had to stay home due to my age and the associated risks. So when it came time to have a baby shower, I had a multitude of ideas swirling around in my head. I even received a Cricut as a Christmas present a month before my due date, which led me to create my own centerpieces. From there, I designed everything from the clouds made of balloons that hung from the ceiling, to the backdrop, balloons, and sweets on the table. With the help of a cousin and a friend, we set everything up and it turned out to be adorable. After sharing the photos on social media, I received a lot of inquiries about who had organized the event. When my son turned one, I decided to take on the entire party myself, from designing the invitation to creating his milestone poster and even a life-sized hand painted Mickey Mouse stand up. This experience led to the creation of La Soirées by Shawnna.
